First Grade

Survive and Thrive Unit -- Begins when students are identified.

According to the book, Survive and Thrive: Project Clarion Science Unit for Primary Grades, this unit will engage students in a study of animals, characteristics, and environments. It will align to the “Needs and Wants” and “Living Things” unit in their regular classroom.

How the Sun Makes Our Day

This unit aligns to the study of the sun and seasons in the regular education classroom.

Computer Programming and Coding

Students will begin their study of computer science with Code.org's Course One.

Save the World! Through Measurement

The point of this unit is for students to explore the idea of standardized units of measurement and to explore options for new units of measure.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.1.1 Write opinion pieces in which they introduce the topic or name the book they are writing about, state an opinion, supply a reason for the opinion, and provide some sense of closure.
